Start to Code Workshop
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Coding is not a rocket science!
We want to show you that coding is not as hard as TV demonstrates or people tell you. Coding is as hard as learning a new language. You already learnt English, didn’t you? You’re on the best way to be the next big coding star!
In this Workshop you will write your own code in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, build your first own project and we will give you the first steps on how to start your coding career.
You just need to bring motivation, curiosity and if you want your own notebook (We will work with Visual Studio Code https://code.visualstudio.com/, please install it in that case).

Can AI read?
Currently, the English Wikipedia contains about 5,8 million articles. For this huge amount of data, very efficient techniques are required to find the relevant answers for millions of users. The field of Question Answering has made tremendous progress in the last few years and algorithms are now capable of extracting precise spans of text that answer a specific question.

KI & Ethik
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Discussing ethical questions might easily seem to be of philosophical or theoretical nature. In the case of Artificial Intelligence (AI), these are very practical questions relating to the trustworthiness of respective software.
The European Commission assigned a High-Level Expert Group on Artificial Intelligence (AI HLEG), which recently proposed Ethics Guidelines for the application of AI and will also propose policy and investment recommendations within the next couple of month on how to make sure and foster that AI is used in accordance with these guidelines. After a short introduction on AI and the particular relevance of ethical questions for this type of software, the Ethics Proposal of the AI HLEG will be presented, and its possible practical consequences for companies applying AI software will be discussed.

Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Machine Learning saves lives: those Algorithms can spot breast cancer cells, a year before patients are diagnosed by humans. How is this possible? Machine Learning provides systems the ability to automatically learn and improve from data. In this workshop, we will analyze real data and train a machine learning alogrithm to predict house prices based on attributes like number of bathrooms or living space. You will write code in Python using the popular framework scikit-learn.

Legal Aspects in App Development and Marketing
Are your planning to develop and to market an app? You are definitely eager to start your project. But there are some legal aspects you should be aware of right from the beginning: Where do you want to offer your app? Have you checked the specific technical requirements and marketing conditions of the app store? Are you using any third party content in your app (e.g., Google Maps)? If so, are you entitled to do so? Is your app processing any personal data? And have you checked that the name of your app is not infringing any third party rights? These and many more legal aspects will be covered in the session.

DIY low cost smart home in a rented flat
I see the smart home world from a consumers perspective and I was always frustrated. Overpriced, poorly written apps not upgraded in a while, no open api, connecting to a "cloud" without knowing what data gets collected about me - this list can go on and on... I want to show you that there are alternatives out there and I believe everyone can start their own DIY journey to make their home smart - in a good way.
